Review: Captain America #46 A
| Writer: Ed Brubaker Penciler: Steve Epting Colorist: Frank D'Armata |
Ed Brubaker continues to blow me away on this title. I could never have imagined Bucky as Captain America as being anything other than a stunt. This issue does something that Avengers\Invaders has not really done - it has put Bucky and Namor back together, in a smart and realistic way. Epting's art really helps, here. We can see inside Namor's mind and what he is thinking. The look on his face tells us that he has fond memories of Bucky - yet it also tells us that he's not sure if Bucky is up to the job. The way Namor interacts with Bucky-Cap is so different than the way he interacted with Steve Rogers. The subplot involving the Black Widow is also well handled and real. This is smart comic book writing.
