Review: Daredevil #115 B
| Writer: Ed Brubaker Artists: Michael Lark, Tonci Zonjic, and Stefano Gaudiano |
The first arc of the Lady Bullseye story comes to an end. It's a satisfying, yet slightly rushed ending. Matt finally finds out what the Hand wants with him and those that are close to him. Brubaker continues to handle the issue of Matt's marriage, well. Regardless of which path the story finally takes, it won't feel cheap, like Spider-man: One More Day.
Matt Murdock has always been the most overtly religious of the superheroes. He is a Catholic and seems eternally plagued by Catholic guilt. He is also an overt parallel to the biblical Job. Matt, more so than any other hero, is continually tested and pushed. And yet he keeps coming back. I think it is almost time to let up on his burden, just a little, for a little while.
But that seems unlikely as the cover art for the next issue implies that a certain Wilson Fisk is returning. The Kingpin is never a good thing, for Matt. I'm sure Brubaker will handle it well, but I really wish they'd left him missing, longer. I don't see the point of making a big deal of removing him if he's just going to come back a few arcs later. Are there no other villains they could write about?
Although three artists are listed, I detected no noticeable shifts in style.
