The Birds' conflict with the Calculator and the syndicate comes to an end. The writing is decent and the pencils are fine, but the artist's storytelling ability is not that great. Several pages are just a confusing mess. The general plot description seems to be a fight that gives each Bird of Prey a panel or two to shine.
This is the last issue of the series. That in and of itself is disappointing. Birds of Prey has been a great series, particularly when under the reigns of Gail Simone.
To add further disappointment are the hints of where the character of Barbara Gordon is going. At the end of this issue is another one of those boring "Origins & Omens" teasers, brought to us by "Scar" the mutilated member of the Guardians of the Universe. If you don't want to know, stop reading, NOW... Okay. Coming soon is a mini-series called Oracle: The Cure. At various conventions DC has teased about getting Barbara Gordon out of her wheelchair and back into the Batgirl costume. Oracle is one of the few disabled characters in comics. I think it would send a bad message for DC to say that she is more interesting when she can walk. It would also be completely false. Oracle is a great character. Plus, there is already a Batgirl and now a redheaded Batwoman. Not that that would stop Dan Didio - he seems happy that there are now four characters going by the name of Flash.
