Marvel celebrates 70 years
In 1939, Martin Goodman founded Timely Publications, which eventually became Marvel Comics. That same year, Martin hired his nephew, Stan Lee, as an office assistant. The first comic was published in October, 1939, and was titled "Marvel Comics #1". That comic introduced the original android Human Torch and Prince Namor, The Submariner. As part of their commemorations of the anniversary, Marvel has set up a section of their website called "Seventy Years". Click here to visit it. |
