Follow up:
The comic of the week, without doubt, has to be Detective Comics #854, starring Batwoman, Kathy Kane. Although the writing is good, it is the art that completely dominates this book. J.H. Williams uses two distinct art styles - one for the scenes featuring Batwoman and another for the scenes of her as her alter ego, Kate Kane. Both styles are a joy to look at. The Batwoman scenes have a very dynamic look and break typical panel conventions. The Kate scenes have a more airy look.
This version of Batwoman was reintroduced a couple of years ago, in the DC weekly series, 52. A lot of media attention was made to the fact that Kate Kane is a lesbian. DC got a little skittish at all the attention and the character virtually disappeared for a year or two. Now, she is back, in one of DC's longest running titles and with one of the best creative teams out there.
This book also features a back story with another female character, Renee Montoya as the Question. Renee essentially "belongs" to Greg Rucka, so she should be in good hands.
